Operator Technician- Metal Flow

Job Summary: The Operator Technician sets up and operates the equipment to temper, anneal, or heat-treat aluminum. While also maintaining scrap and tub inventory levels throughout the plant.  

Responsibilities

  • Operator technicians set up and operate equipment to temper, anneal, or heat-treat aluminum.
  • Reads production schedules to determine which coils need to be picked up via crane next.
  • Understands tub utilization and maintains tub inventory levels.
  • You must build scrap loads each day and turn all loads in before cutting off time.
  • Know the proper way to measure cold band coils (following the methods laid out in the SWI)
  • Will be using Invex and Prodin everyday to complete tasks in every area.
  • Must constantly update and monitor the incoming cold band schedule for receiving (will also include communicating with CMS logistics)
  • Communicating with CBG logistics.
  • Performing checklist verification in receiving per shift.
  • Understanding, updating and monitoring the shipping load tracker.
  • Using the escalation procedures in shipping, receiving, and utilities.
  • Upholding the 5s standards in all the areas under “Flow”.
  • Keeping track of truck drivers, ensuring they are following all the rules.
  • Performs coil storage inventory weekly and makes corrections when needed.
  • East & West crane certified.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Repairs, replaces, and maintains equipment using hand tools.
  • Consistently follows safe working procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Ability to perform manual work in an environment with temperatures up to 110 degrees

  • Ability to bend at the back & knees
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Ability to walk for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Ability to lift hands above head
