Production Operator
Job Summary:
The production operator will be responsible for following SOP’s (standard operating procedures) to ensure the highest quality production of our aluminum sheet. Operators will operate heavy equipment to transfer scrap aluminum, ingots, or coils to the appropriate location. Operators will also operate various mills to support the different processes of aluminum manufacturing. Operators will qualify for various jobs in each APU (Autonomous Production Unit) to cross train within assigned area.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing area opportunities: Element 13, Casthouse, Hot rolling, Cold Rolling and Sheet Finishing
- Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately
- Follow SOP’s in order to properly operate mobile equipment and plant machinery in support of the APU’s production operations
- Monitor machine operation and product quality standards ensuring the highest quality product and effectively communicate any problems or concerns
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform other general tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Must be able to pass a basic skills assessment (Reading comprehension, Math, Inspection and measuring and Monitoring/Problem solving)
- Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Excellent attendance and safety record
- Ability to multitask
- Must be willing to work in a tobacco-free environment
- Must be able to work a 3-2-2 schedule that includes every other weekend, holidays, and overtime
- Able to work 12-hour shifts (No Shift Rotation)
- Must be able to work in a factory/manufacturing environment with exposure to extreme heat/cold conditions
- All offers are contingent upon successfully completing pre-placement testing (background screen, drug screen and physical)
*New employees should anticipate being assigned to night shift, with opportunity to bid on different shifts after initial training period
