Accountant - Accounts Payable
Primary Purpose:
The Accountant – Accounts Payable (AP) Process Owner is responsible for the ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process.This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and strong internal controls over all AP-related activities, while driving process efficiency, cost discipline, and adherence to Delegation of Authority (DOA).The position serves as the functional lead for AP operations, working cross-functionally with procurement, plant operations, and finance to improve cash management, vendor relationships, and financial integrity.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Own and oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable process (invoice to payment) including invoice intake, validation, posting, and payment execution.
- Establish and enforce standardized AP procedures, policies, and controls across the organization.
- Ensure strict adherence to Delegation of Authority (DOA), approval workflows, and payment controls.
- Act as process owner for P2P, including issue resolution, escalation management, and stakeholder alignment.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
- Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actual, prior period) and identify key business drivers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and DOA approval requirements.
- Support SOX compliance, audits, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with operations to provide financial insights and support cost improvement initiatives.
- Assist with financial reporting and KPI development for plant and corporate leadership.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, automation, and data accuracy within financial systems.
Leadership competencies, technical skills requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting (required)
- 10 years Accounting/Finance (required)
- Extended knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point) (required)
- Experience working in PLEX (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills, initiative, transparency, ethical conduct and result orientation (required)
