Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

This position is located in Ravenswood, WV and supports the Production (Casting, Plate, Hot Line, & Coil) units within the facility.  The role primarily provides engineering and technical services to internal clients including Maintenance, Quality, and Production.  This position acts as the technical lead on projects with budgets up to $1M and contributes to projects with budgets up to $50M.  The role impacts operational efficiency, asset availablity, and capital expenditure.  The role has a significant accountability for outage budgets and cost control.  The candidate will typically work on 3-5 projects concurrently, varying in size and complexity, and will be responsible for managing contractors and vendors, validating designs, and being the subject matter expert (SME) for such projects.  In addition to working on longer term projects, this position is responsible for creating and implementing the body of work related to short-term asset upkeep and providing technical assistance to the workforce when needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs Asset Care Plan for area of responsibility
  • Active communicate equipment status, Uptime, KPI’s, etc. to stakeholders
  • Use engineering fundamentals to analyze equipment problems and develop solutions
  • Evaluates Equipment DT and develops action plan to correct
  • Secures parts and equipment needed to support projects
  • Mentor/coach entry level engineers or other technical community members
  • Contractor management during work Outages and project work
  • Development of PDS, RFA, and other paperwork needed to procure CAPEX funds
  • Initiate, leads, and participates as a SME in CAPEX projects
  • Technical guidance/support and training for Craft employees

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, required
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment (ex. Internship or Group Project participation), required
  • Working knowledge of AUTOCAD, SAP, MS Project, and MS Suite
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required
  • Willingness to learn, and multi-task is required
  • Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred
  • Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred
  • RCFA, Project Management, and/or Meeting Facilitation training is preferred
  • Craft, contractor, vendor supervision is preferred
  • Unionized work environment preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable Safety regulatory guidelines. (i.e. OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, NFPA)

Job Specifics:

 

  • Firm understanding A/C and DC control system
  • Understanding motor generator theory
  • Working knowledge of voltages up to 13.8KV
  • Strong PLC Programming functionality operation
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance activities
  • Usage of CMMS system for work management and purchasing processes
  • Experience with data acquisition programs such as IBA to resolve issues
  • Ability to read print schematics, P&IDs
  • Understanding of machinery specifications and procedures
