Converter Administrator

Job Summary:

The Converter Administrator’s primary purpose is to manage the flow of aluminum products in and out of subcontractors (“converters”) contracted by Constellium to further process Constellium Ravenswood’s products prior to shipment to the final customer. With a significant share of the plant’s aluminum coil and plate output being post-processed by subcontractors, the role of the Converter Administrator is critical to the timely and cost-effective processing and delivery of quality products from third parties that meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, organize and track material flows between Constellium plant and converters in collaboration with other supply chain functions, using SAP, the Converter Application, Microsoft Excel, and other IT tools

• Track and insure timely processing and shipment of Constellium materials at converters at the required quality levels, and in accordance with customer order specifications and amounts.

• Management and reconciliation of Constellium product inventories vs. in- and outflows at converters (in collaboration with Finance team). Participation in physical inventory counts at converters as required.

• Respond to order status inquiries and manage expedite requests issued by the sales team for customer orders being processed at converters.

• Handle customer- and converter claims for material damage and quality issues arising at or discovered at converter.

• Evaluate converter quality and on-time delivery performance on a regular basis. Generate reports on converter performance as by supply chain- or plant leadership as required.

• Provide input for in the customer order planning process in SAP to insure alignment between customer requirements and processing capabilities at third parties (“converters”).

• Secure appropriate production capacity, capability and production lead times from subcontractors (“converters”) to support Constellium customer requirements.

• Evaluate and establish new converters, including their setup in SAP.

• Function as a superuser for the converter process in SAP as follows:
  • Update and manage SAP tables / databases related to the converter process.

Monitor and clear of exception reports related to the converter process in the Ravenswood SAP system.

• • Troubleshoot and sustainably resolve SAP system issues related to the converter process.

• Actively contribute to process improvements in the realm of converter management, including SAP system improvements.

• Other tasks and activities as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science or Data Analytics.
• 3-5 years relevant work experience (supplier management, procurement, operations, production planning, data analytics, continuous improvement, technical sales) in an industrial setting.
• Proven ability to work and collaborate successfully in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries and levels.

STRONGLY PREFERRED

• Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills in complex environments.
• Supplier / subcontractor management experience.

• Prior experience with SAP S/4 Hana – Production Planning, Transportation Management or Finance/Controlling modules.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and cross-functional problem solving.

PREFERRED

• Metal industry experience.
• Advanced spreadsheet development and data analysis capabilities using Microsoft Excel (or similar).
