Engineering Project Manager

Job Summary:

Lead assigned capital projects from concept through closeout, delivering approved scope safely and in compliance with EHS and quality requirements while controlling cost, schedule, risk, and technical performance.

Provide project leadership and technical support that improve operational efficiency and asset availability while achieving authorized capital and business objectives.

This position supports the Production (Casting, Plate, Hot Line, & Coil) units within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple concurrent projects and provide prioritized department and plant support consistent with approved business needs.
• Own project safety, scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality, and resource plans within delegated authority; escalate material variances and obtain required approvals.
• Develop, coordinate, and/or oversee project documentation including specifications, estimates, schedules, plans, and various reviews including safety, technical, reliability, operability and quality.
• Provide technical guidance and direction in the analysis and resolution of complex project challenges
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
• Lead development of Request for Approval (RFA) documentation and secure stakeholder and management approvals in accordance with the company authorization process.
• Select, direct, and evaluate engineering firms, contractors, suppliers, and vendors within delegated authority, enforcing safety, quality, schedule, cost, and contractual requirements.
• Direct/support project field execution and construction coordination, including work planning, issue resolution, change control, commissioning, and turnover.
• Periodic discipline specific guidance and support for plant maintenance and operations
• Support of engineering system maintenance, advancement and improvement initiatives
• Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and performance expectations for assigned indirect team members while personnel accountability remains with their functional managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program, required
• Minimum five years of industrial capital project experience, including direct accountability for scope, budget, schedule, contractor coordination, and field execution, required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and/or work collaboratively within a team environment required
• Demonstrated proficiency applying project management, quality, risk management, change control, and lean methodologies to complex industrial projects, required.
• Ability to adapt to a new industrial environment, required
• Effective written and verbal communication, including the ability to present technical, commercial, and risk information to executives, operations leaders, engineering teams, and external partners, required.
• Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, required
• Must be well organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, required
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred; Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or equivalent may be considered with demonstrated experience leading complex industrial projects.
