Fire Systems & Risk Management Engineer
Job Summary: This position is the subject matter expert for all the Plant Fire Systems and responsible for the purchase, modification, installation, maintenance, and operation of these fire protection systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide applied engineering and technical skills in the areas of:
- New fire system design and installation
- Maintenance of fire systems including testing as required by NFPA
- Recommendations on upgrades
- Manage the fire water system including pumps, reservoirs, and distribution network
- Fire alarm maintenance and upgrades
- Insurance visits and completion of insurance recommendations as they pertain to fire systems
- Enter work orders, plan jobs, and oversee repairs related to fire systems
- Support annual insurance audits related to fire risk and manage audit findings to completion
- Generate CAPEX Paperwork, manage projects up to $1.0 M and participate as SME for projects related to fire systems
- Manage installation of new fire systems
- Manages third party contracts for testing and inspection of fire systems
- Purchases tools and equipment needed to maintain the various fire systems
- Approves any modifications, installation, maintenance, and operation of the plant fire protection systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution, required
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, required
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, required
- Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills, required
- Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills, required
- Familiarity with applicable Safety regulatory guidelines. (i.e. OSHA, ANSI, NFPA), strongly preferred
- Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment, preferred
- Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred
- Craft, contractor, & vendor supervision, preferred

Job Specifics:
- Basic understanding of Electrical and Mechanical theory and practices
- Ability to effectively lead and manage medium scope outages and projects
- Understanding of precision maintenance and best practices
- Working knowledge of AutoCad or other drafting software
- Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance activities
- Usage of CMMS system for work management and purchasing processes
- Experience with data acquisition programs such as IBA to resolve issues
- Ability to read print schematics, P&IDs
- Understanding of machinery specifications and procedures.
