PRIMARY FUNCTION: Inspects, maintains, repairs and lubricates all types of mobile equipment, stationary engines and batteries.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Hand tools of all nature, power tools, hoists, cranes, mobile equipment, grinders, blow torches, lubricating tools, electrical and electronic test equipment, welding and cutting equipment, etc.

 

MATERIALS HANDLED: All types of mobile equipment and stationary engines, spare parts, automotive supplies, lubricants, solvents, anti-freeze, paint, electrical batteries, gas cylinders, etc.

 

WORKING PROCEDURE:

 

  1. Completes required records, reports, requisitions and surveys
  2. Perform other limited maintenance duties and provide other maintenance crafts limited assistance in their work area.
  3. Operates power truck, man lift, other mobile equipment and cranes in performance of job.
  4. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, charts and sketches.
  5. Performs qualified welding, burning, and soldering in conjunction with job.
  6. Plans work details, determines material and tool requirements.
  7. Repairs tools common to this classification, tires and wheel assemblies.
  8. Uses stores catalog and/or computer to requisition materials and transport to work area.
  9. Works from blueprints, manuals and diagrams, lubricates, inspects, repairs and maintains all types of mobile equipment and stationary engines. Makes adjustments to correct faults, modifies units as directed, and operates equipment in connection with making necessary repairs.
  10. Inspects equipment periodically, makes field adjustments to maintain proper operating conditions.
  11. Lubricates, services and washes mobile equipment.
  12. Performs electrical and electronic repairs on mobile equipment controls and systems as required.
  13. Repairs all hydraulic systems and components on mobile equipment.
  14. Keeps equipment, work area and lunchroom in a clean and orderly condition.
  15. Keeps time cards, maintenance records, PM’s, etc.
  16. Uses mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment to trouble shoot mobile equipment problems.
  17. Perform miscellaneous painting in their work area.
  18. Could be required to exercise considerable latitude in determining priorities, scheduling work and securing parts from the most economical source. Consults usage histories via CRT and parts catalogs, calls vendors, negotiates price and purchases materials within established limits.
