Planning Manager
Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Planning Manager function is to enable the Ravenswood facility to provide best possible customer service, as measured in OTIF (on-time delivery) and delinquency (late orders). This function also works to control operational costs and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Ravenswood supply chain organization.
The Planning Manager is a member of the Supply Chain Lead Team and has 3 direct reports and is accountable for supply chain activities related to SAP production planning, operations data analysis, KPI tracking, supply chain IT system maintenance and development and new product development. The Planning Manager also functions as project manager for major supply chain projects and drives continuous improvement within the Ravenswood supply chain group.
The Planning Manager is a highly visible position, with direct interaction with all levels of sales and operations leadership, including the BU President, BU CFO, plant CEO, CFO, production & maintenance managers, and sales directors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction, day‑to‑day leadership, and development of the production planning and production analytics teams.
- Ensure effective and efficient execution of the SAP production planning function, including pre‑sales support, material master creation, production lot planning, and timely resolution of operational anomalies (shortages, set‑outs, diversions, salvages).
- Maintain and further develop non‑SAP IT systems used by the supply chain team for daily operations, as well as reporting systems used to track plant‑wide KPIs related to customer service, quality, cost, and operational performance.
- Use advanced data analytics to identify operational anomalies and disruptions and initiate corrective actions.
- Lead the supply chain portion of the new product development process in coordination with quality and sales teams.
- Manage supply chain activities related to Constellium Ravenswood’s procurement of third‑party rolling ingots and slab.
- Participate in and significantly contribute to the monthly S&OP process.
- Collaborate with the Ravenswood Financial Planning & Analysis team on data analysis and reconciliation activities.
- Manage and lead larger supply chain projects involving collaboration with other departments and facilities inside and outside Constellium.
- Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives within the Ravenswood supply chain organization.
- Other tasks and activities as required.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED
- 10-15 years relevant work experience (supply chain management, operations management, production planning, data analytics, project management, continuous improvement) in an industrial setting.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics or Business.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries and levels.
- Proven success in sustained cross-functional problem-solving.
- Advanced spreadsheet development and data analysis capabilities using Microsoft Excel (or similar).
STRONGLY PREFERRED
- Prior leadership experience, including direct supervision of employees.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement (Black Belt certification or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills in diverse environments.
PREFERRED
- Metal industry experience.
- Relevant experience with SAP S/4 Hana.
