Production Scheduler, Hot Line
Job Summary: The Production Scheduler for the Hot Rolling organization is responsible for developing and optimizing the daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for both the Scalping and Hotline Departments. This position aligns customer orders, metallurgical requirements, equipment limitations, and operational priorities into a cohesive schedule that maximizes throughput and maintain on-time delivery
Responsibilities
- Develop highly detailed production schedules for the Scalping and Hot Rolling Dept.
- Coordinate with casting/supply chain on ingot availability
- Optimize furnace loading to maximize throughput and minimize energy usage
- Re-adjust schedules for breakdowns, quality excursions, etc.
- Work as go between with supply chain, sales, transportation for operations to ensure optimal flow and customer service
- Maintains ingot inventory and condition
- Administrative duties of putting together schedules, lot tickets, etc.
- Participate in workshops, production meetings, safety audits, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program, preferred
- 3+ years of aluminum rolling, preferred
- Strong understanding of hot rolling fundamentals, ingot prep, and furnace cycles, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment (ex. Internship or Group Project participation), required
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing under specific area of discipline, required
- Willingness to learn, required
- Ability to adapt to a new environment, required
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, preferred

- Sets production schedule for over 100 hourly employees that attain 40 to 50 million pounds of production and beyond

- Must produce schedules that lead team through a high risk, complex process and be able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
