EHS Specialist
Job Summary: The EHS Specialist is vital part of the team and is responsible for providing EHS expertise, structure and support to the Constellium organization by driving EHS excellence through various means by effectively coordinating the EHS First programs, providing technical and logistical support in the maintenance and continual improvement of the EHS management systems and in new projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Safety Committee and drive employee engagement initiatives by fostering open communication, promoting recognition programs, and organizing activities that support a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Assist with the implementation and improvement of HIRARC, leading HIRARC workshops, and the assessment of Environmental Impacts for existing operations and new projects.
- Support the internal and external audits and the various EHS tours, inspections and assessments including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Provide technical (legal, regulatory and EHS First) expertise and interpretations, sampling, and reporting requirements for ongoing operations and new projects.
- Drive and lead the EHS CA/PA/Suggestion activities to ensure timely completion of desired outcomes.
- Collect/analyze and assess trend data to identify issues and opportunities for EHS improvements.
- Develop and deliver training in EHS issues to relevant ASNA (Automotive Structures North America) employees and contractors, including initial orientations, refresher training and EHS program awareness.
- Perform Leadership Safety Tours, supervisor coaching, maintain SIF rolling 3, update LST (Leadership Safety Tour) Board and Tracker.
- Champion the EHS 8D Process and Board.
- Auditing all contactors to ensure the general work permit (GWP) is completed and audited with GWP tool.
- All other duties assigned and necessary to perform the job.
Qualifications:
- Applicant should demonstrate knowledge in occupational/environmental safety and possess or be working toward a bachelor's degree, preferably EHS or Engineering-related or equivalent experience with a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development), required.
- Must have experience in an EHS specific role and are willing to possess an OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 10-hour certification, required.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to deliver effective training, and interface at all levels of the organization with special consideration to shop floor personnel, required.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Experience with IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems, preferred.
- Proven experience working in a manufacturing setting, with specific knowledge and understanding of automated machining, six sigma and ergonomics, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials and SDS, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and local legal and regulatory requirements in either OSHA and Environment with practical understanding of the implementation requirements, preferred.
- Statistical, mathematical, and chemical knowledge, preferred.
- Strong and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
