Production Planner

Job Summary: The Production Planner will coordinate schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned department or facility.


Responsibilities

  • Develop Production Schedule for the manufacturing and assembly areas, enter JOBS and measure schedule attainment.
  • Attend the plant daily Flash Meeting and report out customer and supplier concerns. Display and facilitate daily the Flow board review.
  • Develop short term and long-term production plan by updating the Netting File daily/weekly.
  • Perform Item Parameter Reviews annually on all WIP assemblies and Finished Goods.
  • Monitor customer releases and forecasts to ensure production plans align with fluctuating demand.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Planner to ensure raw materials and components are available to support production schedules.
  • Analyze production capacity, labor availability, machine utilization, and material constraints when creating production plans.
  • Adjust schedules in response to customer demand changes, equipment downtime, material shortages, quality concerns, or other operational disruptions.
  • Monitor production performance and schedule adherence, identifying and resolving issues that impact delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Operations Management to prioritize JOBS and maximize manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate production planning data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including schedule attainment, inventory levels, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery.
  • Follow ISO 14001, 9001, 45001, IATF 16949, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Backup when the Customer Demand & Forecast Analyst and/or Supplier Planner is out of the office. 
  • All other duties assigned and necessary to perform the job. 
  • Coordinate equipment outages with Engineering and Maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, preferred or High School Diploma or GED with equivalent work experience, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of materials scheduling experience in a Tier 1 automotive facility, preferred.
  • Experience working with OEM customer releases and demand schedule, preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with supplier planner/ordering, preferred.
  • Detailed oriented in nature, preferred.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills, required.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, required.
  • Proficient with MRP systems, PLEX experience is required.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequent interaction with manufacturing floor personnel.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

 

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Exposure to production equipment, moving machinery, and varying noise levels.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to support customer requirements and production demands.
