Purchasing Intern/Co-Op

Job Summary:  The Purchasing Co-Op will help to improve efficiency through cost reductions, market testing, and evaluating vendors and suppliers based on quality, price, and speed of delivery for the Van Buren location.


Responsibilities

• Support the Purchase-to-Pay end-to-end process

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with supplier contacts in order to ensure that all orders are shipped to the manufacturing facility, within the prescribed delivery times. This may involve telephone conversations, emails, or face-to-face meetings with suppliers

• Ensure that all parts and services are ordered and/or performed in the most economical and efficient manner (e.g. consider minimum order quantities, inventory carrying costs, etc.)

• Utilize problem solving techniques to identify the root cause and develop countermeasures when targets for critical metrics are not met

• Support purchasing, resolve purchasing order discrepancies, perform periodic purchasing data reviews, monitor vendor quality and performance, purchasing audits, and monitor daily purchase order and accounts payable reports

• Address and resolve receiving, invoice, and purchase order issues; audit invoices as requested; support the match exception and vendor add process

•All other duties assigned by supervision and necessary to perform the job

 

Qualifications

    Business Management Major

•     Supply Chain concentration preferred

•     Ability to integrate people, processes or systems as needed

•     Strong interpersonal skills

•     Must be computer literate and have experience in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

•     Ability to define and document processes

•     Strong decision-making ability and problem-solving skills

•     Ability to be flexible and adaptable as needed

•     Strong organization and communication skills are required

Salary is determined off of current class standing with university (i.e. Freshman, Sophomore etc.)

Details about internship/Co-op program below:

  • Offers:
    • Intern offers are done based on Fall (September – December), Winter (January - April), and Summer (May - August) semesters.
    • Intern offers only last for one semester at a time and will have specified start and end dates.
    • Interns and co-ops will need to complete a background check, drug screen, and physical before starting employment with Constellium.
    • Interns and co-ops will turn in a copy of their transcript at the beginning of every new work term and or semester.
    • Interns and co-ops can be offered additional work terms after graduation. Once they reach a year after graduation, interns and co-ops will not be offered another work term.
  • Compensation/Benefits
    • Time off
      • Interns and co-ops will receive 2 paid personal days per work term and or semester
      • Interns and co-ops can take unpaid time off per manager approval.
    • 401K
      • Interns are eligible to participate in Constellium’s 401K Program effective the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Reimbursements
    • Interns and Co-ops qualify for the safety shoe and safety glasses
    • reimbursement.
    • Interns and co-ops will receive pay raises based on their class standing. In order

to get a pay raise interns and co-ops will need to turn in their transcript.

    • Interns and co-ops are eligible for a monthly $500 housing stipend if they live 50 miles away from their home location. To receive the stipend interns and co-ops

will need to fill out the housing stipend form and provide the required

documentation.

    • Interns and co-ops qualify for expense reimbursements, only if they had manager and intern coordinator approval ahead of time
