Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2025

Job Summary

As a key member of the Constellium Georgia Automotive Group Process Engineering team, this position involves providing support to the Reliability Engineering Group, managing standard operating procedures (SOPs), conducting documentation training, and assisting in data analysis. The role includes assigning individual and group projects to interns, focusing on tasks such as documenting and updating existing processes, creating training documentation for ISO certification, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, daily tasks involve collaborating with engineers on computer-aided design (CAD) projects to support overall project goals.

 

Responsibilities

The White GA, Manufacturing Engineer Intern will assist the Maintenance Manager on key projects to be completed in a timely matter.

In this role, the following are the key areas of responsibility:

  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop facility layout drawings of production and support areas.
  • Conduct studies and propose improvements to the overall process flow and spatial utilization based on Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Provide assistance with evaluating ergonomics and safety within the Manufacturing operations.
  • Perform time studies on Manufacturing machines and cells to evaluate bottlenecks and areas for improvements.
  • Audit Preventive Maintenance on machines and cells to help determine effectiveness of the PMs utilizing plant production film strips.
  • Preform studies on consumable Tooling and assist on documenting the tooling into a tooling data base.
  • Audit Production work instructions to ensure that they are up to date and are in the quality system
  • Assist in Quality audits and documentation for the TS system

Requirements

  • Currently completing coursework toward an Engineering Science Major or Concentration.
  • Strong Problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated organized individual who requires minimal supervision in completing assigned tasks
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate to all business stakeholders, from production operator, up to plant management level.
  • Able to use Auto Cad software to layout equipment and process flow or equivalent.

Offers

  • Intern offers are for Summer 2025 with a scheduled start date in May of 2025 ending in August 2025
  • Interns and co-ops will need to complete a background check, drug screen, and physical before starting employment with Constellium.
  • Interns and co-ops will turn in a copy of their transcript at the beginning of every new work term and or semester.
  • Interns and co-ops can be offered additional work terms after graduation. Once they reach a year after graduation, interns and co-ops will not be offered another work term.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Time off
  • Interns and co-ops will receive 2 paid personal days per work term and or semester
  • Interns and co-ops can take unpaid time off per manager approval.
  • 401K
  • Interns are eligible to participate in Constellium’s 401K Program effective the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.

Reimbursements

  • Interns and Co-ops qualify for the safety shoe and safety glasses reimbursement.
  • Interns and co-ops will receive pay raises based on their class standing. To get a pay raise interns and co-ops will need to turn in their transcript.
  • Interns and co-ops are eligible for a monthly $500 housing stipend if they live 50 miles away from their home location. To receive the stipend interns and co-ops will need to fill out the housing stipend form and provide the required documentation.
  • Interns and co-ops qualify for expense reimbursements, only if they had manager and intern coordinator approval ahead of time
